"Here's looking at you, kid"

Never really thought I could create an entire outfit from scratch, fabric and all.
Gotta love my knitting machine and a spare day :)

"I think life is too long/To be a whale in a cubicle/Nails under your cuticle"

I've been busy as usual finishing up a freelance project that I'm very excited about - hopefully I can let you in on the details soon.

I've been obsessed with two things this week.  What is the point of life if you can 't have these random obsessions??

Potatoes...my roommate and I picked up a bag of potatoes at the market last week for a mere $2.  I've lost count of how many I've eaten so far; the bag is nearly empty already!

Baked garlic and herb potato "fries":

My new crystal necklace - I always feel like I'm wearing part of a chandelier when I have on this necklace.  My one and only statement necklace so far, but I'm excited to add to the collection.

I would love to know - what are you obsessed with this week?

Hair Update:  Still growing it out :)

"And that's a pretty nice haircut Charge it like a puzzle, hit me wearin' muzzles "

I cannot believe it has been a month since my long tresses were chopped off into the shortest haircut I have ever have.  With this somewhat dramatic change in terms of my style, I unsuccessfully attempted a lifestyle change in my daily upkeep.  Short hair meant that my face was now exposed for the world to see, so that meant I actually wore make-up from time to time.  I also started to blow-dry my hair in order to style it from the poofball of a mess it tends to look when I wake up in the mornings.  While I have been wanting to get my ears pierced for some time now, the real incentive that pushed me to do it two weeks ago, was the fact that I need to accessorize about the neck to complement the hair.

While I am not opposed to some sort of hair maintanence routine and I do love the new short hairstyle, I am considering growing it out from this point on.  I am simply too busy/too lazy to keep a styled look that comes often with short cropped locks.  I long for my comfort zone of a "lob" cut and being able to tuck my hair behind my ears.

I have been gathering a few photos of celebs in an in-between phase of short haircuts as inspiration.

As I glance at my calendar, I have a decision to make: chop chop again, or let it grow out?  Thoughts?

‘Cause it’s love, it’s love, it’s love, it’s love, it’s loving yeah

I actually got my ears pierced recently so I am shopping for earrings for the first time in my life.  EXCITING!   I have to keep my current studs in for a few more weeks, but I cannot wait to rock out some borderline tacky chandelier earrings just dripping in jewels.

Some practical daywear styles I've added in my Net-a-Porter shopping cart, of which I am still undecided on which one to purchase (I only have the budget for one nice pair at the moment):

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Isabel Marant
Chan Luu
Philippe Audibert

Any suggestions on which ones to purchase?

If You Knew My Story Word for Word

It's almost Friday!

Quick snapshot of my outfit today - gotta love wearing all knits on a chilly October day.  I'm planning on putting this skirt up for sale in the shop, so look for it soon along with better quality photos.

Work Uniform

Working 10-11 hrs in the office, then coming back home to work until 1 AM on freelance projects is certainly exhausting.  That's why I have what I like to call a "no-brainer" wardrobe that makes getting dressed in the mornings so much more efficient.   I tend to stick to the same neutral colors and fabrics, relying on the same formula to style and dress myself each day.

At the moment, it's all about transitional dressing.  Lightweight draped knits, slim pants, gold and bronze jewelry, a minimal blazer, and a chunky scarf - that's been my uniform these past few days.

H&M blazer, Zara pants, Mossimo top, Urban Outfitters belt

Random bracelets from Loehmann's and the Young Designer's Market

What do you guys wear on busy work days?

How Can I Tell That He Loves Me So

A little bit of a guilty pleasure song from today's post title.  Let's see if you know what I've been listening to :)

Anyways, it's been a hectic week at work, so I have just barely had time to update the store.  Unfortunately, that means my personal projects have been put on hold for a while.

Some new cozy sweaters up for sale in the store.  It's really starting to feel like fall with the sudden drops in temperatures, and I'm loving it!

Vintage J.Crew Over-sized Cable Sweater $25.00

Lately...

A brief update on my life, if you would be so interested...

Space-dye bras from Urban Outfitters - currently on sale for only $6.99 each!

New yarns I'm excited to knit with - unfortunately there goes my knit budget for the month.

Close-up of the mix of yarns in a new piece I just knitted last week.  Full reveal of the garment coming soon.

Revealing a bit of my inner 5 year old princess fantasy in ombre gold glitter to sheer peach nails.

How has your weekend been?  Ready for another week??

A Little Lighter, A Little More Free

All cut!  It ended up being a bit sleeker and mod-looking than I expected, but I am definitely going to find it difficult to go back to having long locks again.

Chop Chop

I've always had the desire to see what it would be like to have short hair.  Like really SHORT.

I've been stocking up on images of short haircuts for way too long.  It's time to make this a reality.  Stay tuned...

I'm leaning towards the Anja Rubik haircut (second from top) or the Carey Mulligan one.

Any last words of advice or thoughts before I go for the cut??

Macarons and Sweaters

Looking at this gorgeous macaron makes me want to create an embellished sweater in the rich purple hued yarn I have.  Photos of the project coming soon.

I should stop sketching when I'm starving...

Blackberry Macaron from La Maison du Macaraon.
I've been meaning to try out Laduree, I really have.  But this little place just has a much more convenient location!  Anyone been to Laduree and care to share their experiences??
