I'd like to introduce to you all one more piece from my thesis collection, known as the
Cabled Cables Sweater. One of the entirely hand-knit garments of the collection, it is an exploration of variations of cable knit stitches all intertwined in a complex manner that comes to resemble a basic cable construction as well. I had based the initial design of the sweater off of the traditional Aran sweaters of the fishing cultures of Ireland. It is knit with a luxurious blend of corded baby alpaca and merino wool blend yarns, along with a mix of textured boucle, silk tape yarn, and cotton twine lace yarn in the back for a modern element.
Some sketches and illustrations of the sweater...
From this, we move on to initial fittings:
And then an exploration of mood/inspiration boards and photos of the finished product:
I'm currently working on a variation of this design in a machine-knit version, as well a simplified, more ready-to-wear one that will be hand-knit. Both versions, if successful, should show up in the
store later on, so stay tuned!
Wow! Love this, so beautiful, And I am very impressed. I will look out for them.
